So I bought my D600 in January of 2013. Never had much of an issue, but eventually at smaller apertures I started seeing the spots.

I sent it back per their service advisory and received a free cleaning in the summer. I noticed that they had come back so I sent another email. Without any questions at all they called and said they're sending me a new 610 as a replacement.

They may have messed up at first, but this is awesome.

There really weren't any questions asked at all. I only sent it in for cleaning once and got a personal phone call, not an email, saying they will fix it.

Regardless of how they handled it first, I think this is above and beyond and a wonderful offer.

I wish I became educated about full frame vs. crop sensor before buying my D7100. I would have have gone for a D610.
I'm going to start saving my pennies.

On my D600 I never had the dust/oil problems but I sent it in on the recall and they replaced the shutter. Then here a few weeks ago the mirror locked up, and I sent it in they again replaced the shutter etc. Only cost to me was shipping it to the Los Angeles office.

Not a mess up, Stef. I had a refurbished D600 and sent in some images to service center. They said to send the camera in without any of the accessories. I had the D610 within the week with another set of accessories - battery included. I used the service center in LA.

I wonder if I took in my Ford Ranger and told them I don't get the gas mileage they promised me in 1996 when I bought it, they'd give me a new F150?

Give it a try. Wear ear plugs to damped the sound of laughter though.

Did you have to prove that you had oil spots? On some I beleive I do see spots on others I do not. But hate to have problems later thanks

Go for it. I was thinking the same about my GMC.
