My Olympus camera has a setting for "allow shutter release without autofocus lock" or something like that. Maybe your camera is not detecting a "valid" lens and causing problems if the tubes have no contacts.

Your article was quite appropriate. You did restate, but with a different perspective, some points that others had made. You also provided at least a couple of new things to consider. In particular you were the only one to really emphasize, and explicitly so, the very important concept of experimenting to see what works and what does not.

Everyone learns in their own way, and many times having the exact same thing said in several different ways is precisely what makes a complex subject suddenly pop into place. I'm sure somebody, and probably more than one, picked up on the big picture because of your article!

I focused on auto mode. I was shooting something that was not laying on the ground but it was actually in a well lit area as if I am looking at this monitor right now on my desk. I was taking a photo of a orchid. This orchid as most of you know they are standing up and living. I have tons of daylight with it being in a room that is a greenhouse type of room. It shouldn't be dark at all. I should have had the perfect shot. and it did have a lovely photo without the tubes. I did receive the tubes all together and started with using just the one. Alas I will figure it out. Thank you all for your help. Tomorrow is my photography club meeting. :-)

Hello, Thank you for your input. I have watched a seminar where the nikon camera does have the setting different settings required with the tubes on. It's technically not a lens. Just an extension tube.

Thank you again.

Unfortunately, you have a G lens, and cannot open the aperture with manual tubes.
