Finally got around to buying a 22" beauty dish. My good friend Keith was the first victim (he was only over to do some plumbing work for me and he's not exactly a beauty!). I'm really pleased with the result. I've also just bought a third head (Bowens 500R) on ebay for delivery next week. This is getting serious now!

For females you will need a diffuser, otherwise the image will not be flattering.

I have the diffuser and also a grid. I will be trying different combinations to figure out what works best for different situations. Thanks for the tip

So they call them Beauty Dishes now, do they??? There were no 'Glamorous' names like that, when I got mine in the early 1960's.

I don't even remember seeing one in the 60s, but then I never worked in a fashion studio :)

That's a very good portrait actually - not easy to do with someone wearing spectacles.

I used to refer to mine rather irreverently as 'The Dustbin Lid' That was when we had metal dustbins, and the lids were about the same size.

I hope that nickname didn't 'reflect' the quality of the light you got from it? :D :D :D
