I really like Ebay and buy lot of stuff there. But the only country I do not like to buy from is USA. And that is due to sky high shipping costs mainly. But I have been buying a lot from the UK, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, China, Singapore, Bulgaria and more countries and never had any problem with anything but in a few cases long shipping times. But that has usually been due to slow process at customs in my own country.

Same here. I do NOT do business outside the U.S.

Is $1000 shipping not reasonable? It is a long swim to Hong Kong. :-D

The seller is probably going to personally deliver it to you... he is bringing it with him on his trans ocean cruise... LOL!

If you change the "ship to" location to any other country than the U.S., a more reasonable $30 shipping fee appears instead of $1,000.

Hmmm. Perhaps the seller simply prefers not to ship orders to the U.S., but will do so for the right price.

I've bought things on Ebay three times in my life, and been burned every time. Never again.

They're just taking advantage of the damn fools that say "you get what you pay for." Here's several of 'em on auction on ebay right now and the first one is just sitting there waiting on the first sucker who has no clue of what's going on but wants to "get what he pays for." LOL!

I have never had a serious problem with ebay, but I read thru everything completely and check out the seller and do research on the product and prices. Also probably the biggest point is I am usually buying used stuff or obscure items that are not mass market popular. I buy old used books, rare LPs, old used lenses. If you order an iPhone on eBay 85% chance you are going to have a problem. Crooks want a fast buck and get out. They are not going to cook up a 1954 Bukka White album. I also sell on ebay, same types of things. But you do have an indirect point (for me) lately ebay is becoming more just about retail and less about auctions and vintage collectables by private one time sellers. And oddly many prices are better now on Amazon. But you have to be careful there too.

I have bought several inexpensive items on Ebay with no problems, yet. However, I am awaiting a replacement on two light stands I bought for $20.00, can you believe they have plastic parts? LOL. Two were broken and they are sending me two more complete stands. I fixed the broken ones well enough to work, not in a windy environment for sure. So, in the end I have $20.00 invested in 4 very cheap light stands. These were from a vendor in Florida. Some items came from China, but I'm talking lens caps, small speedlite stands, lens cap keepers etc.

When I can afford a new camera body or lens, it will be bought locally, or from B&H or Adorama.

Just in case you ever wonder of you are getting a good deal JUST because its listed on Ebay, think again and COMPARE prices with authorized sellers. This Ebay scammer has apparently sold 4 of these units already to unsuspecting buyers?????

Its a very expensive camera, but $5600 shipped is way over the line! ;-)

If he did sell any at that price, he may have sold them to a sham buyer, ie himself.

The most one has sold for lately on ebay is $2800, 2 at that price and others sold for less down to around $2100 with the average around $2500.

EDIT: Upon closer look, there has been one lately sold on Oct 14 for $6132.75, said it was a "buy it now" purchase so no way to tell who bought it.

From Hong Kong

This looks like something that ebay might want to be interested in since they hammer so much on stopping fraud. Does anyone have any pull with ebay and want to tell 'em about it? These people only accept PayPal and they're pretty tight on fraud. Of course, I guess the only thing going on here is bilking some stupid people out of their money, huh, or an attempt to? B&H lists this camera for $2798.

Happens all the time! Has several eBay accounts and one "buys" from another and leaves great feedback.
Volunteered at Care-n-Share a few years ago after I had been laid off, some of the people I worked with were doing community service - four of them for shilling on eBay. One was only in trouble for shilling but had lots of really good scams involving eBay that he "knew" about but had never done...yeah right!! LOL!
If it's over about $20, I only buy from USA sellers with HIGH (over 1000 feedback) ratings. Never been burned.

Not all eBay sellers (or buyers) are this gullible. But I have noticed that the asking prices for items on Ebay tend to be higher than from other sources.

Probably to offset the charges by Ebay + Paypal.
