I don't understand how anyone would make the investment in this camera without knowing the basics of this kind of stuff. I mean, more power to you, but no it's not more cheaply made, and if your ISO is on auto, why even buy a 750? I just don't understand..

As you have already discovered it was your camera's settings, not a camera problem that resulted in your first image. (And, very nice for iso 6400)

If you already have a D600, I really doubt you will notice much difference in image quality. Yes, is does have very good high iso performance and has a higher native iso, but the D610 and D750 are very close in this area.

Just because it can perform better as high iso doesn't mean you have to select high iso for shots that don't need it.

The shaved weight is minimal, but to some people every gram less they have to lug around makes them happier.

The strap, except for the lettering, is identical to the one that came with my D7000. Functional, but nothing fancy.

The slightly modified grip feels better in my hands. The flip screen is handy for some. I have no idea if you will use the built-in Wi-Fi. I know I don't.

Where your new camera should excel over your D600 will be in it's ability to rapidly and accurately autofocus, even in very dark situations.

If the hi-res flip-screen, Wi-Fi, video, native iso, and autofocus improvements, weren't enough to justify your purchase, perhaps you should have either purchased the cheaper D610, or moved up the D810.

It is weather sealed.

I don't know about the D750 that Nikon DonB has, but the one I purchased came with the standard gaskets and weather sealing that Nikon said they put on this model camera. :) I won't be swimming with it though.

Thanks for the help...I think I will keep it and play awhile.
I took your suggestion and this was the result.

Well I'm 70 years young and I wanted the extras the 750 has...I will learn how to use it, may take awhile though. My five year old grandson has been with me the last few days and I find it hard to concentrate with him around. His photo is included with this email.
I shouldn't have posted about this until I knew what I was complaining about!!
Hope you have a great day!

you too, and like i said more power to you, but the upgrade from a 610 to 750 while still learning those basics must be nice :)

Nice photos btw :)

Both of the second shots were taken at f/4.5 but the D600 shot was 1/200th at ISO 200 where the D750 shot was 1/320th at ISO 400. Why aren't these set the same for both cameras?

I was incorrect. I was looking on a web site that stated the 750 wasn't weather sealed as compared to the 610 and 810. Sorry for the misinformation. Can't believe everything you read I guess.

Mary Rose-- wont comment on the cameras, but after returning to the photo world a few years back I can say, at least for me, finding a good quality strap is like looking for hens teeth. Have tried several and been unhappy with all. Finally went back to the two I used in the '70's -- :)

I, too, have a Black Rapid strap and am very happy with its performance.

and I have a few complaints. First of all has anyone noticed how high you have to set the ISO to take a photo? For instance the photo I just took outside was taken at 6400 ISO, with my d600 I could take the same photo with the Iso set at 400. What gives??
Also I know that the weight is lighter than my d600. Is that because it isn't made as well? The strap is pretty cheesy too. I will have to order another one to make sure the camera is safe.

Yes, it is slightly smaller and lighter than the D600/D610. It has more magnesium and less plastic. Maybe that's the reason.

As for the ISO, do a reset and try again. I seldom shoot above the 100 ISO default. What aperture and shutter speed are you using? All three work together.

If you took both picture with same manual (shutter speed and F stop) setting in both camera, with Auto ISO which will adjust the exposure automatically to the same ISO value only if your exposure metering point are on the same spot with the same mattering mode (Matrix; Center-weight;or Spot).
So try again, try set everything the same, put both cameras with the same lens on the tripod and take the pictures with the same frame of the scene, you will find everything will be the same!

Not that much.

D750 image seems, to my eyes, a tad higher in contrast. Could be the lens too, unless you were using the same lens (same piece!) on both bodies...!

The camera is new to you. Take your time and learn it. I agree the Nikon straps are uncomfortable for higher end cameras of this weight, especially with some of the lenses we use. I like OpTek straps, very comfortable and $20-25 at B&H or on Amazon. Have fun with the new D750.
