I've been there twice so far this year, last Thursday and yesterday. Here are a few I like.

Mike looks like you had some great opportunities. Really like the first one. The wingspan and the details are terrific!

Hi. I recently visited Conowingo. I have had my nikon d51 00 for a while and do alright, however I had difficulty focusing on a bird in flight. Not matter what settings I used .Any suggestions. Dennis.

There is no magic setting and the various AF and metering settings offered on your camera just take practice.

I know nothing about the D5100. I usually use single point focus on all my bodies but I do experiment with dynamic AF too.

You don't tell us what lens(es) you're using. A starting point for birds-in-flight (BIF) might be something like a 70-200 with a 1.4 or 1.7 TC. At Conowingo the distance to the birds is often much farther that the reach you'll get but it is handholdable and you can practice tracking birds with it. Go longer when your comfortable.
