Am I the only one still using this camera? It seems to do everything I need. Not the bestest, fastest, or latest but still takes good pictures.

Its only got to please you. However, its around 12 years old, and although it seems to do everything you need I wonder if you would still think so if you had the opportunity to play with a modern dslr like the 70D or the new 7DII for a week or two.

I owned a 40D as well and loved it. Of course the 40D is several years newer and more advanced than the 10D. With each new generation of cameras previous generations still can perform up to their original standards, but over time the bar is raised. Newer bodies with improved sensors and electronics can achieve things older bodies can't. It certainly does mean we should trade up to the latest and greatest, far from it. But I do think those of us with ancient camera bodies owe it to ourselves to see what newer bodies can do for our photography. A 6MP sensor like that on the 10D is almost low resolution by today's standards and I suspect it generates much more noise in less than very good light.

I purchased the Canon 10D back in the day when they first came out. It was my first digital camera - I needed a digital for low end weddings. While not giving the quality I was used to with my Hasselblad, the 10D served me well until last week when I passed the torch to my daughter-in-law for her first SLR. About a year ago I also picked up a 20D body which went to her as well. Both cameras do their job well. I am now the owner of a new Canon 6D with L series lenses; but I will always fondly remember my first 2 Canons.

My first dslr was a 20d. That was a wonderful camera and is still in service but not by me. I loan it to people I know that want to try a digital camera.
Though it is every bit as good as the day it came out, it is still just an 8mp camera.
It's very easy to work very hard at getting top notch shots, but you are extremely limited by the low mp count. Sure, they are great on your computer screen, since your screen is usually has a low pixal count, but in the real world the pics are somewhat useless since they don't enlarge well.
IMHO, nobody that is serious about photography or is a pro, should be using a low mp camera. ;-)

Gave my 10D to my daughter some time ago.
Why? I don't know. She never has used it.
