Is there anyone here using an ASUS Republic of Gamers Laptop for editing ?? They seem to have some pretty good specs. Simillar to the Alienware computers
It depends on what you want to do. For gaming.. they're really good.
But for stable workstations.. stay away from heavily overclocked machines.

I have the very machine of which you speak, Windows 7 64-Bit, 16 GB of RAM, with a 500 GB SSD C:\Drive and a 1.5 TB storage drive (photos and such), with a 3 TB external USB hard drive (mainly photographs). I use LR5/PS CC 2014 and a ton of filters, and do a LOT of PP work. It's the fastest machine I've ever used, and very reliable.

ASUS G75VW-DS72 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black),
Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor 2.3GHz
16 GB SO-DIMM RAM
750GB 7200rpm Hard Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive
17.3-Inch Full-HD LED Screen, Nvidia GTX 670M
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
If you're you intend to use this for PP work, I highly recommend the SSD drive. I had a Samsung 500GB SSD installed in a Lenovo Laptop for around $500.00 installed.
