I used to fly radio control airplanes. There a ton of thing that can happen even with the most experienced pilots. I've see wind currents cause crashes and some move the craft out of radio range. Remember, air currents you are feeling on the ground are not the same as at different altitudes and they can overpower the small engines in any radio controlled craft.

I hear ya...I had a model hungry vortex at our flying field try to eat my Sport Cub foamy...bit the nose right off. Easily repaired and ready to take on the dragon again.

This hobby sure can get expensive.

Don't ya hate it when this happens!

To all you silly guys:

No boat...I'd be dangerous operating a boat.

Maybe someone will spot it. The Gulf is only about 5'-8' deep for miles in that area...lots of fishermen pass through there.

Sorry about the loss, I am curious do these drones have a signal beacon, float, insurable, automatic parachute/airbag ejector drops x-ft/sec?

No beacon, doesn't float, not insurable, no parachute/airbag and when working properly they descend at a controlled rate. And thanks for the condolences. ;-)

Sounds like it's a hi-jacking or its in another time; real spooky!

I'm going with the hi-jacking! Or can that not be done?

Maybe there's a Bermuda triangle starting out there?

With the newer 2.4 ghz transmitters that is unlikely, older radios maybe.

So it wasn't pilot error or a technical snafu, just an extraterrestrial phenomenon. Okay...works for me. ;-)

She must have had a point and shoot. He would have been very saddened if she was using a Full Frame....
