Don't have to travel far to get great fall colors in the DC area...just head to the wonderfully calm flatwater kayaking spot in Lorton, Va. Fountainhead Regional Park.

I photograph blue herons a lot, but can always get better pictures from the kayak - partly because I'm on their level and partly because as I sit quietly watching them from the water, I seem to disappear from their radar.

Wonderful autumn colors! I'm really partial to the brilliant colors in #1 and their reflections. Kayak, Colors, Camera...seems like a triple crown!

The colors in the trees are more beautiful to me than a Heron, but then, I'm not a fisherman either, so it's probably understandable. I DO appreciate good color saturation however, and you delivered that in spades.

Thanks...That's all because of being on the scene at dawn, when colors just pop! My favorite time of day whether in or out of the kayak.

Great shots . Love all the colors . How are you protecting your camera while in the Kayak ? I also use my kayak but am reluctant to use my better cameras while in it . Do you use a camera housing ?
