Off for the challenge of 2day... Yay, it's finally Friday!

Hey Frankie, you shoot a shotgun? There's a shotgun shell on the ground in the middle of the chickens. Ha!

Welcome to Day 61 :) and the start of our third month. Today we are going to take a look at Geometric Perspective
(sometimes called linear perspective .. or vanishing point perspective). Geometric Perspective
makes subjects in a photograph look like they recede into distant space, appearing smaller the farther they
are away from you. The lens needs to be seeing a larger area in order for the vanishing point effect to register
with the viewer..so don't use zoom, keep the camera on the widest view (smallest number).
Because of this, landscape photography is where the use of vanishing point is most often seen. Roads,
train tracks, piers and other large man-made structures created with parallel lines all make excellent subjects
for vanishing point photography. Naturally there is going to be a vanishing point everywhere you look.. it's not
something that I pay much attention to, so the goal of this challenge is to get us to notice them as we look around.
For anybody snowed in or otherwise occupied .. the archives are a wonderful resource.
This first photo I put red lines on to make it easier to see where the vanishing point would be in each scene.
I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.
Welcome to Day 61 :) and the start of our third mo... (show quote)

Sherrie, if you are talking about the post earlier in this thread, I thought you handled that very well. And I agree...why waste your time on this thread if you don't like the way it is done? There are plenty more out there to choose from.

She sent me a private message .. couple of them

Just a few words from a newie. There are times when I don't have time to look through all of the 30 plus pages but when I see a comment about a photo that has been posted I do not have a clue as to where to go look at it. Is there a way to find the original post without having to spend a lot of time trying to find it? I enjoy this thread and I am trying to get to know you all by your photos and comments but I really don't have the time to sit here by the computer for very long. Thanks for anyone's input.

Thanx Frankie....Do you REALLY want to walk in snow?
quote=Frankie quote=Roadrunner Thanx Frankie. ... (show quote)

Yes, I really do. I have never walked in snow before...the only snow I've ever been in only lasted a few hours and that has only been 4 or 5 times in my life. I would love to experience all those things you do in snow, walk, ski, ride snowmobile, sleigh, snowball fight. Do I want to walk inthe snow....you bet I do.
ahahahahahahahahah br that was not very nice ROAD ... (show quote)

Good, c'mon up and I'll teach you how to shovel (free of charge)

Thanks, Rivernan, that is very sweet of you. :-D But when Asather saw that post she reminded me that I am supposed to go live with her....she said she's got all that stuff too & I don't have to shovel snow...she has a snow blower! :-D It's an "offer I can't refuse"...see, she loves to cook & I love to eat! So like I told her...that's a perfect match  She'd probably let you come too & we could all have "great"fun

Photogrl - 31 days hath January,29 hath February (sometimes)= 60. My calendar says it is day 61 of this yr.,the 1st of
March. But day after day when i click into UH it is one day
behind. Have you past the internat'l dateline, or am i on the wrong planet? I approve so much of your efforts in this
project but wonder if too much chatter is clogging the works. There seems to be an awful lot of unrelated material here..are people not taking it seriously? I don't feel it
should be necessary for some of us to go to search every day
to find the right day if that is the problem...always trying to catch up to see what you're doing so i can support
your good project.
Photogrl - 31 days hath January,29 hath February (... (show quote)

Some of us have been involved in this project since day one. It has become a photography class for us, and we have grown together as a photographic family. The new and old ones of us realize that as we progress, we get to know each other better and are forming friendships. With friendships there comes chatter and a getting to know of one another.. We never forget why we are here and are very grateful to our patient, knowledgeable, kind leader. We also support and send words of encouragement to each other. Most of us find this a wonderful gathering and enjoy the support and chatter we give to each other. We share photos that may not be exactly the theme, because we are a family.. I am sure if you look closely enough the pictures would fit the theme in some way. If you are strictly here for the photos and only words about photos, then there are other topics, where people just glance in, make their comment and leave.... That might be of interest to you... If you enjoy this thread, then simply scroll thru and look at the pics and ignore everything else
