I am a new member who lives in Colorado. For a # of years I have just used a little point and shoot camera (Canon PowerShot SD550) and usually used 'AutoFocus'. I now want to bump up to a bridge camera so that I can have more features including a better zoom. I do not need anything fancy...I mostly take just landscape photos.
My needs: camera under $500, easy to use, a good view finder, LCD that swivels, user friendly. I am not interested in video or WiFi. The camera I am considering is the Nikon Coolpix P600. I am hoping I can get some comments and recommendations from this group. Thanks---Phyl
For the LCD swiveling, ability to have an external flash, I would recommend the SX60 (about 550) or if you can still find an SX50 (have seen them for 350-400 new).
Thanks. I see that the Canon SX 60 won't be out until later this month tho---Phyl
Thanks...I will. I see the reviews for the SX60 are 5 star---Phyl
See if you can try a Fujifilm camera,I think you would like it..
Do you have a particular Fujifilm camera to suggest?---Phyl
I have heard nothing but glowing reports on the Canon SX 50, and would assume that the SX 60 will be at least as good. That's what I'd get if I were getting a bridge camera!

Some of the users on here already have them.
Click on "Search" at the top of the page and enter "SX60"

I have the Panasonic LUMIX FZ200 and love it. 2.8 Leica lens throughout the zoom and all the other items you want for about $400. It got great reviews and I love Leica glass.

Get the Canon SX60, and don't look back. As a happy owner of the SX 50, i'm going to get an SX60 as soon as I can talk my wife into letting me get another camera in my never ending quest for better, easier, and sweeter shooting cameras!

Sounds to me that you have pretty-well described the Canon SX-50. Now that the '60' is on the horizon, it might be a good time to search out an SX-50 if you can still find one. Probably between 300-400 dollars. Very good 'bridge', or for a little more than your budget, get the 60.
I would think about a Panasonic Lumix44FZ200. I have looked at it in a store and if I wanted a bridge camera this would be it.
Panasonic Lumix FZ200! I really don't think it should be counted as a "bridge" camera.

I'll echo Papa Joe. Now would be a good time to look for deals on the SX50. I have that camera and it is really very capable. The Zoom on the 60 is a bit better, but trust me, 50x zoom is more than adequate for most applications.
