I promised myself that I would wait till after Christmas before I would buy anything related to photography. And there I was today holding this brand new item in my hands, just checking it out at the local camera store. After that things are a little hazy, and here I am at home with this gold box and a brand new lens, pitiful. Of course it's raining, so tomorrow I will dance between the raindrops and try it out on the Df.

To resist all temptation, you would have to stay out of the stores and off UHH and other forums too!!

I have my eye on that lens as well. Of course I want to end up with two boxes. One would contain a D750. Luckily I have been able to resist for now. Of course considering that the lens and the camera would still be less than just an 810 does make it tempting. Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure you are going to love it.

There is no doubt about it, we are a bad influence on each other. The sad part about it is the fact that I had managed to stay away for over a month, first trip in and I lose control.

My Df came with a 50mm 1.8, a great lens but not too useful for me. Then I find out the other day that this lens exists, a new offering from Nikon but not available. B&H has them for pre order. A buddy of mine was visiting from NM and met me at the Camera shop, when I walked through the door he was mounting it on one of his D610's.
I fell in love and they ordered mine from another store.
Seems like I've sung this song before

I under stand buddy, when you have something in your hands that you really want, the thought of walking out the door without it does not seem rational. The instant gratification is wonderful and very addictive!

Well, I really needed it. How's that for rationalizing? :D

We are very good at figuring out ways that we need something which we didn't even know existed a day earlier.

Hey, I had my basic training on the Hog. The more I learn, the more I want. I hope it works out as well as it is supposed to. My buddy is loving his, will head back to the NM desert Sat. and put it to work out there. That should tell the tale.

Actually there is: It is Bennett's Camera at 3230 Severn Ave. Metairie, La. 70002 (504) 885 9050 This is at the corner of 18th street I believe. I was in the store less than a month ago.

Great little lens--I've had mine for a couple of weeks now.

I had actually been waiting for Nikon to announce it--I figured it was an obvious addition to their 1.8 lineup. I pre-ordered from Amazon as soon as I heard about the announcement.
