Hi everyone,

I'm looking for honest (but kind!) comments on the images below. I want to offer prints of these shots for sale on my website, but right now I'd like some feedback. I want to know if you think they're of sufficient quality to attract buyers. Thanks!

Definitely good enough to sell. Would be interested to hear more about your website etc. I understand that Squarespace is a great place to start. Good Luck!

All three are interesting photographs well composed. You might consider lightening the foreground of the second (foliage) a tad. Love that golden lighting by the way. On the third you might try increasing contrast & clarity and perhaps brightening the bottom half of the image just a bit.

I agree with Simon regarding which of these pictures might or might not sell. Good luck. 8-)

Paul or is it Tommy?
It is so hard to know what will sell and where...I wonder if you have sold from your website already and if you have a clientele that comes to look at your work???
The first one appears a little dark to me....and I would not buy something like that without seeing it in print.
the second one is very nice and the golden bridge and reflection give it a nice pop.
The third one is also quite nice, although on close scrutiny there is something distracting in the clouds upper left???

Good luck and let us know...no harm in adding them to your site

Appears to be a few spots of perhaps sensor dust. 8-)

Thanks for the input, everyone. This is my first attempt at selling images, via the web or any medium for that matter. As you can see, I live in Michigan--and in my part of the country regional images like those I've shown here seem to be very popular. For example, it's not unusual to go into a doctor's office and see Detroit images on display in the waiting room. Ditto for hospitals and even some grocery stores. This is what stimulated my idea.

By professional, I'm a freelance writer. I'm looking into developing alternative income streams, and I think this might be a promising possibility.

Thanks again, everyone. And BTW, my name is Paul. Tommy of "Tommyknocher" is just a user name here on the hog.

If that is the case why not try printing your favorite one and walking into some of these places you mention and see if you can get any interest...A little more work for you but a lot less work for the potential buyer....

The Macinac Bridge photo is compositionally good, but overall it lacks punch. Try brightening up the clouds without burning them out.

Here is what I mean on brightening up the clouds.
I also noted your very low pixel count. I presume you presented up samples intentionally with a low count to protect your sale photographs from pilfers.

Your sale pictures should be at least 300dpi.

You're right, I did do that intentionally.

Hi Paul, I'm pretty new here but I wanted to say I really like the second picture of the bridge. It's clear and very nicely composed. I did want to ask though how does everyone know the dpi and other things about the pictures? Bill

To me...these are run-of-the-mill. Nothing that I'd spend money on.

Having said that...I've seen a lot worse sell so there is no accounting for what people will like or not.

No harm in giving it a try.

Of the three, I like the second one the best. My only problem is the buildings on the right side of the photo. They are a distraction. I would either crop the photo to eliminate them (might mess up your aspect ratio) or I would clone them out.

The first shot is very nice; but, I don't think it has a big enough "Wow" factor to be a big seller. The Big Mac is also very nice; but I don't think it pops enough to get people to say: "Wow, I gotta have that photo". You might be able to re edit that third shot and make it pop more. Not really sure. Of course gauging the public is the toughest part of this equation. Something that I don't particularly like might be something that another person can't live without. You never know.
