Aloha! Having lived in Hawaii for 20+ years, I would recommend bringing the 18-300, no flash, plenty of storage cards, and a battery charger. The reason for no flash is that there wouldn't be much opportunity to use it. The 18-300 might be able to work in low light. Shark Cove (North Shore) is nice and depending on whether we have had some recent Pacific storms (big surf), you might catch some surfing activity. Google Laniakea beach for directions. It's past the last Haleiwa traffic light and just past the horse stables. Go early, before the tour buses get there. Traffic may be heavy on the weekend. Honu are a protected species, so keep your distance. Have a great trip and A Hui Ho. :-)
I just got back from Oahu and the Big Island. I lugged my D800 around and made lots of photos. I also have an Olloclip and accessories for my iPhone 5s and Joby tripod
In looking at my photos I have discovered that my iPhone photos are great up to about 8x8, perfect for a project I'm working on.
IMHO the Olloclip, for whatever phone you have, is a good way to go. Lightweight and you can carry it everywhere. I also did a bit of time-lapse stuff with it. I also used a LensBaby, if you like abstract, etc., way cool!
YMMV, Dennis
Shaved ice is a definte  just wonderful.check as they may have torn it down. Arizona memorial is a must. Try to shoot a sunset on the north shore. TAKE SUNSCREEN!! Have a great trip Rich
ND grads are good for sunsets/rises if you would want to go through the trouble of packing them. A polarizer is great for waterfalls and to filter glare off of foliage but be careful because they can filter out rainbows; and there are many, many rainbows.
Enjoy your trip!

I thought polarizing filters can enhance rainbows. Rich

If you enjoy taking pictures and find photography relaxing as I do then you'll be in a great place to relax while you're capturing some beautiful and memorable, high quality, photographs with your D7100 and the two lenses that you mentioned. A good wide angle would be great to have also for capturing some great beach and coastline shots. I lived on Oahu for nearly 20 wonderful years. Since you'll be driving, try to get up to Pali Lookout. There are so many great places to see and shoot on Oahu. It's best to get a travelers guide to check out as many sites as possible during your visit. Kailua Beach on the windward side of the island is also very scenic. Have a great trip and enjoy paradise!

Going to Bellows AFS and will have a car. Actually going with an old friend. Wife does not have any vacation time so she told me to go and enjoy - who am I to argue with the wife. But then I am 66 and looking for a little rest time as well. Good thought about the Bigsig. So going to take D7100, 18-300, battery pack, SB700 flash and monopod - oh yea, and battery charging stuff as well..

BTW, I don't think you need to take the big Sigma lens. The 18-300 will be enough and a nice wide angle would be a good addition.

There is a small area during the rotation of the filter that could enhance the rainbow by darkening clouds in the background. However there is a much more likely chance that the rainbow can be filter out completely.

Thanks for the reply.I think we are basically on the same page but I just thought you had to fully polarize to knock out the rainbow but since I am not an experienced rainbow shooter I will defer to you.The ones I have shot in the past have all been with a polarizing filter and turned out ok . Thanks again Rich
