I'm sure you have to be careful about shooting down drones over someone else's property and I'm sure that there will be LAWS in place soon to protect the droneies from this sort of thing. We wouldn't want to interfere with the rights of the drone owners... but, no one better fly one over my house or look into my windows with one of those things... or that drone will never see the light of day again.
This is only the beginning of more regulations and restrictions on everyone. These people who think they are entitled to use their toys because they can... doing something without thinking about others or "I was just trying to... bla, bla, bla." as an excuse for their new hobby are in for a rude awakening. I would imagine that this guy will think twice the next time he flies his mini camera with wings.
I also think that there is more to this story than was told... as usual.

I think most cities, towns, settlements have a "discharging a firearm within city limits" law. That should cover the vast majority of incidents.

I agree with you concerning "these people who think are entitled to use their toys because they can.....", the man with the shotgun was doing exactly that, and he should pay up.

Well, that's just what happens. Isn't it happening right now?. More laws, less person rights with no constitutional backing... and... the liberal thinking in this country, where guns are the bad guy, not crazy "misguided" people or irresponsible gun owners.
I'm glad I live in the middle of nowhere. Gives me a buffer from the insanity.

A gun is not a toy, John. There seems to be some confusion about this.

Whatever you're shooting, bullets or shot, is going to land someplace and you as the shooter are responsible for every one of them.

I am not responsible for the shots of others, only my own.

From what I can tell, it probably could have been avoided if the operator had simply let the immediate residents know what he was up to.

But, maybe not. The guy may have just got an itch to shoot something out of the sky.

If someone wanted to get an aerial view of the hood, and came around, I'd have no problem with it. Being surprised would make me unhappy though.
