Last Saturday following lunch, we took everyone to the Pt. Arena Lighthouse for the tour which included a climb to the top - 185 steps! Still, it wasn't as strenuous as the 308 down and back up at the Pt. Reyes Lighthouse. I preferred the views from the ground. The weather couldn't have been better.

Haven't been out there in years. Didn't realize there were tours. Loved the photos, especially of the lens.

Very nice set!
I still remember a time when the stairs wouldn't have bothered me. :?

The last time we went, the lens was still in the lighthouse. They're now using a very small electric version that's efficient, but has a reach of a couple of miles less than the Fresnel lens. I wasn't paying attention and missed why it was moved. Maybe there was an earthquake risk since the original lighthouse and lens were ruined by a quake. This lens and current tower were the replacements.

Thanks for looking and the nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed these. The stairs weren't too bad or certainly not as bad as Pt. Reyes. Having and handrail helped. My knees don't particularly like stairs anymore.

Excellent set Vicki.
Thanks so much Jim. I appreciate it.
Nice series, Vicki. The first shot of the lighthouse is beautifully composed, and the lens is incredible, like some sort of alien bug-eyed monster. Love that one!
