Berlin Marathon, New World Record

OMG, 2 hrs, 2 minutes, 57 sec.
Exactly what is going on in the world, for a full, marathon.
Must be the result of the end of the world, global warming, mystic winds, freakish DNA, or somekind of evil manipulation of evolution.
Honestly, can the 2 hour marathon be far away. Hard to beleive, I was so glad when I first broke the 5 hour marathon limit!
I may have to reconcider running again. Quit because I didn't have 4 and 1/2 hours to waste. However, I can dedicate 2 hours and still have time to relax and recover over a beer.

In 1954 Roger Bannister runs a mile in under 4 minutes; In 20-- ??? runs a marathon in under 2 hours.

At 54, I'm just glad I can still run out to my car at Walmart for my checkbook and get back before the cashier is done.

Something to consider. When I ran in the NYC Marathon, it took me 30 minutes to get to the starting line after the cannon sounded because there were so many people ahead of me. Although my best official time was 3:45, it actually took me 3:15 to run the distance.

A friend of mine said that he thought the marathon was the most boring athletic event ever. He said that to liven it up, they ought to shoot the last three runners every thirty minutes. Perhaps if they did that the two hour barrier would become instantly broken by many runners.

Totaly missed this, but I was out of the country at the time.

Oh! Yeah! Berlin!!! My wife ran and I have to say, it was the best run marathon we have ever attended!

Hey, no fair. You can just say I ran, you really must post your time.
Congratulations! I was able to join in the Berlin 1/2, in '91. Unbeleivable organization, but what else would you expect from the Germs. We crossed the location of the wall, I think 3 times. And my time....was the best most enjoyable time I ever had running. Embarrassed to confess, don't recall the time. Then again, never was a fast runner.
Damn, now with suck-ass circulation I am tickled if I ca walk 5 miles, without too many rest stops. My advise run, enjoy and tell the stories often

Actually, my wife ran this one. I did run Philadelphia a week ago with a time if 5:35:30. I am not fast, but I am steady. My wife runs much faster.

A hilly course would result in slower times, unless it's mostly downhill. I wonder if they take that into consideration. The first NYC Marathon was run in circles in Central Park. Talk about boring!

Berlin is known as one of the fastest marathons in the world. It is probably the fastest of the majors, followed by Chicago. New York is a tough run because of the bridges and the crowded field.
