I put in my pre order with B&H on Sept. 15 at 8:50am as soon as it was announced that pre orders were being taken.

Tom Granger (tomgranger.com) has high res. high ISO photos he took at Photokina. Results look very impressive all the way up to 25000 ISO.
Got mine pre ordered also.

Holding GAS in check until DxOMark sensor rating is published. For me, the ISO score needs to be at least 3000 for low light shooting with no flash for indoor action sports. It is the only reason I would consider giving up FF. The 65 cross points would be a tremendous benefit in some cases.

I tried to fight it - honest I did, but the temptation was just too great and I read one too many early reviews. I resisted as long as I could, but today I pre-ordered the 7D Mk II from Adorama. Anyone else try but failed the siren call of 65 AF points, ISO to 51200, 10fps, etc etc., ?

I feel the itch! Can't justify it though. Maybe later... :-) Cheers.

Yea, I'm fighting my temptations to go for the gusto. I also have a desire to get the Sigma 150-600mm. I'm really having a hard time getting the thought out of my mind. I was going to get the SX60 since owning the SX40 and SX50 but I want to experience going for the gusto. I know it will cost me but I'm not getting any younger. I love the SX50 but on long shots you in deed need a very good solid and stable tripod to get quality pics. However, I have missed many a shot because of the slow focusing and not being very good in low light times. If you are going to spend your time and money doing serious picture taking you need a better quality camera and lenses. They are ok for travel and on the spur of the moment picture taking but ask yourself if you want for something better and after experiencing your time with the SX50 you will keep asking yourself is there better and yes there is better. I will keep my SX50 for backup. I love that little camera and so does my wife because she does not see me spending a large sum of money for a bigger set up.

gm, noise seems to be the only thing anybody ever talks about anymore.
The sensor in the 7ll is a full 5 years newer than the 7l and at least 2 generations newer. It is the newest generation, and newer than the 5lll and the 1dx.
To an action shooter, noise is of little consequence if you can't get the shot.
For me, It's focus first for action. Above noise, above DR or above IQ. I feel all of those are highly over-rated.
Job #1, is get the shot!!
At least that's MY personal approach.

If I was solely an action shooter then I would agree but I am not therefore I won't. It is a great action shooter in bright daylight. Get under less than ideal lights and it is intense red salt and ugly pepper.

Somewhere on one of the several 7D threads here on the Hog someone posted a link to a photo comparison between the 7D and 7DII at something like 3200 ISO. The 7DII showed a noticeable improvment. The comparison was done by one of the reviewing sites that had gotten it's hands on a 7DII as I recall.

I am hoping for that to be the case as I love the operation of the 7d and it's many great features. It also fits my hands well which is important to me.

If what he said about the high ISO is verified by actual testing then that will make it happen for me.

Sage advice. I'm waiting to see the DxoMark results as well.
