Wonderful set Bob.
Thanks infocus. I never truly appreciated overcast skies in my non-photographer days, but it was wondrously overcast while taking these shots. And great fun!

Thanks Jim, and you're welcome to come along anytime I can get out of the house. I suspect the next trip will be to the Blue Ridge Parkway again once the fall colors are in full swing.

I've been to Stone Mountain in Georgia, is this the same one??
It's the same type of rock formation HomerRene, but this one is located in North Carolina, not Georgia.

Really nice pics, Bob. I'd like to go there when I'm in that neck of the woods, but probably won't have time. Another trip maybe.

Thanks roder. Sometimes the neatest photos are those unexpected ones ...... I knew there would be an interesting mountain, had read that there were a lot of creeks ....... but had no idea there would be such interesting sculptures just hanging from the trees.

Thanks ebbote. From the 40 or 60 shots I captured, I narrowed it down to these 8, hoping they would be representative of all the rest. Keep it short and sweet ......

Thanks AzPicLady. I suspect you will find some interesting site of your own, perhaps closer to home, that would be equally as entertaining. I look forward to it. If you're ever up this way, let me know ..... there are a couple of out-of-the way places that are a photographer's dream.

Several months ago I posted some photos from the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the commenters asked if I had ever visited Stone Mountain State Park in NC as it was only a "stones throw" (pun intended) from the BRP. At that time, I hadn't. Yesterday my wife and I took a "daycation" (any interesting attraction where we can make the round trip in a single day) and visited the state park. Wonderful weather - overcast (hooray!, no harsh shadows) and the temperature only got up to 66 (my kind of "hiking" weather, especially when trudging behind a rollator).

Stone mountain is granite igneous rock, also called a puton - a phrase I was unfamiliar with before visiting the park. Probably more than the mountain itself, I enjoyed the various creeks and waterfalls that were easily accessible from the park road. Getting lost on the way home only added spice to our adventure.
