Saw this ad in a local free paper. Is there a market? Is it a joke? Cat lovers please respond. [And anybody else!] :?: :?: :?:

Oh yeah. Lots of folk doing cat sitting--and birds--while the owners are out or on vacation.

I have two cats and when I used to visit my son for a week I did have a cat sitter who checked them daily- made sure there was food and water and she also cleaned the litter box. Cheaper than boarding and no kennel cough. Vet told me that cats are much better off at home with a sitter than being boarded. And I did notice that cats didn't seem to be nearly as angry when I returned compared to how they were when I picked them up from the kennel.

No joke, you're not mad and this is not bizarre. We have used a pet sitting service for 10+ years. (They do dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish - anything.) They are bonded and insured and come twice a day. In the morning, brings in the paper, turns off outdoor lights, opens drapes/shades and feeds the cats. In the late afternoon, brings in mail, turns on outdoor lights, closes drapes/shades, does litter box patrol and sets out fresh food and water. Even feeds the feral cat who has adopted us. If they are not too busy, they'll give the cats individual attention, play with them, give them treats. If we are gone for a long time, they'll water the house plants. House looks lived in and we have huge peace of mind. Expensive but so much better than a small cage in a kennel or the vet's office. Every time we return home we hear stories about how wonderful and loving the cats were (better than they treat us when we are home....). It's a win-win for all involved.

Stands to reason that if someone is going to go away for awhile to have a cat sitter. It costs $$$ to board them at the vet's. so why not leave them in their own house. Have a bonded animal sitter come in an look after them

We went out of town this weekend, and boarded a cat. To the tune of $165.

It's ridiculous, but if you ever post this to where she can see it....

Enough said.

Price for boarding our small dog was $13 to 15 a day and extra for play time and if medicine is needed to be dispensed

I'm vacationing right now and I'm using a cat sitter for my beautiful Ragdoll kitty. $10.00 a day for a visit, food put out, litter cleaned, water put out and a little licking on a cherry sucker she loves. She's happy and the high-school girl is too.
I like the idea of the Co-op for cat sitters.

Please post pictures of your rag doll, if you get a chance.
I once had a cat, Turbo, that had diabetes, so I had to have someone shoot him twice a day (10ml's, insulin) if I was gone.

I'm sure you miss Sassy. The neighbor has one that looks similar.

It has been 13 months still miss her daily. We have cared for/ lived with 8 dogs over the last 30 years. 7 Poms and 1 Lhasa-apso.
The most 4 at one time.

Why don't you look for another one this weekend...not to replace her, but a friend to start new memories with. Remember how they are when they discover their feet? They trip all over them. Puppies bring a lot of smiles...think it over...

Our cat was on continuous daily medication for hypothyroidism so we always boarded him with our veterenarian when we were out of town. If you have ever tried to get pills down a cat you would know it wasn't a job you stick the uninitiated with. Costly but he brought us such joy for fifteen years it was worth every penny.

Beautiful. Looks full of personality...are they related to Siamese?
