This morning i attended the Alpaca fair in the next town over.
Many animals ( alpacas ) in enclosures to be shown.
I was disappointed in the lack of saleable items( gloves- scarves- etc etc) being sold.
The Rovings were more along the lines of natural fibers instead of colorful dyed rovings that one could and would use to make their items with.
The people i spoke with welcomed me to take pictures. So be prepared to see their livestock.

Well i left $21 for a pair of fingerless gloves for driving..
That was my big expense for the Day..
:)
I think it was more in the interests of selling some animals rather than wool or items.
Right now i don't need any more livestock..

To be truthful, i was rather disappointed. I felt it would be homemade items from the fibers, but all were commercially made. The rovings were White and fawn.
But i have both of those and i washed- picked and carded my own and my color is a much prettier shade than anything i had seen there. Again all theirs had been commercially roved .
The lack of dyed wool was a real bust( not that i needed any) but it would had been nice to see colors and know what was new on the Market.
All in all, i think the show was more along the lines of sales of the livestock than fiber or items.
I needed to attend to find out, now i can just pass on bye next year and smile..
But i did manage to buy a pair fingerless alpaca gloves for driving. My one big splurge of the day..

But at least it was a day out and different! I have to admit, I've never done felting, I did however, after brushing my cats, roll their hair into a ball, I wet it a bit, and I could have made beads out of it!!

Because of the cats fur being so soft you would have to blend it with more wool than fur to make beads.
I used some of Hevs fur and had to blend it with wool to get it to bind.
They did have a rabbit at the fair and i know they sell fur from it, but its expensive.

I wouldn't wear fur beads, but it did stay together, it would be a good project if someone lost their cat as a remembrance ball, I actually think I saw that somewhere, maybe on pinterest!
