I have just recently discovered this section in the forum and am absolutley amazed and what you people are doing. I am new to photography and a complete newbie when it comes to PP. Until recently I have been only using iPhoto. I did buy Lightroom 5.6, but am ashamed to say that I have not learned to use it yet. Although I have just joined a class at the local community college, so hope to remedy that. I was hoping that you very talented people could fix this photo for me. I did try but was not very successful. I would like the people removed and the photo made prettier. Sorry it is only a JPG image, as when I first started shooting I couldn't understand why the RAW images were coming out "duller" than the JPG, so I deleted all the RAW photos that I shot and continued with JPG. I know pretty silly hey! But I've changed my settings in my camera to RAW + JPG and now I am keen to learn. Oh, my camera is D7100 and the photo was taken at mid day - not the best of time, and it's straight out of the camera. I would appreciate any improvements and you have my permission to change and post. Many thanks.

Here is my version of the fix. I removed the people and backpacks using clone stamp and spot healing. I then did some light adjustments. and hue adjustment . then I ran a high pass filter to give it a little more sharpness. I hope you like .

You can always add a "Photo Sky" but I try to keep to what the original photo scene looked like as much as possible.

This was my attempt. Been trying out the Topaz plug-ins. So I used Topaz Remask and then some Topaz Clarity. Couldn't do much with clouds. ...

Yep, Topaz is magic... I have them all! Addicted!

Taking your photo and playing a little with Adjust 5 (I started at 3 and no charge update thus far.. )

Playing a little suddenly I see that the photo is the same as this NASA Mars scape? You don't suppose that they... no, ... they wouldn't do that. And the flag waving in the breeze on the moon whee there is no air... no, that is just conspiracy bunk... still this NASA Mars photo looks a lot like yours!!

I suppressed the holes lower left they were distracting from the theme of the arch.

I agree the holes are distracting, but that brings up the old issue of how far to go in altering the scene. National Geographic would never allow that. ;-)

Ha,ha! Moab, Utah is famous for its red rock, and there are so many remote view points for NASA to work on........

I left the photographer as a story teller. Added some color pop, and clarity.

It's the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park in Utah. You have to hike 45 minutes to get there, but a fairly easy hike and so worth the view. At sunset and sunrise there are loads of people. We were there at midday in March this year. The hike access was recently closed due to thunderstorms and flash floods.

OddJobber, those hole were made by NatGeo to tie up the Penguins that are in the original photo. Did NatGeo not know that we would not accept that Penguins were in that area. Who ever heard of Penguins in desert areas?

Speaking of Penguins... I traveled to Patagonia to photograph Penguins and Whales? The Penguins were all moth-eaten and the whales were animated tails that would popup occasionally. I suggest if any one wants to see Penguins and Whales that they buy a NatGeo DVD. Humph!

Well, I like the people! You've got a sharply captured image and with a little processing, it can look great. I did 3 quickie versions: one with just the ugly backpacks gone, one with only the attractive little family on the left, and one with nobody! You've got some serious spots either on the sensor, the lens or a filter. I got a bunch out but there's more!

Used NIK tonal contrast filter in the processing, then photoshop clone tool to amputate the people and the spots, a bit more dodge/burn. Thanks for the fun!

I agree with you, Your images with people do look good. I have since had my sensor cleaned. I was shocked at how dirty it was, and when the photo was taken, my camera was only 4 months old - from brand new. I thought I was being careful when I changed lenses but I guess living in a desert area there is a lot of dust.

Thank you so much everyone. I love them all, it will be hard to choose my favorite and I'm looking forward to learning how to do this myself.
