pretty shot rob! i've never seen a red dragonfly around here:)

Thank you very much, Phil, but, I must confess, some of my macro shots are the result of my using my telephoto lens from a distance.

Many of photo ops are best when moving closer to the subject. Better details etc. See my example.

I agree with what you are saying; I also get close in shots. I use my telephoto, for example, when the subject is not close, and I want to capture the moment. These were also shot using a telephoto zoom from a distance.
