I used to see them in West Africa but they never had the range of colours that yours has

When I was growing up, my parents had a Bird of Paradise plant. It took something like seven years before it bloomed. Yours is gorgeous. Did you know that if you let them grow as they wish in California, the plants can reach two stories high and the blossoms are then white with a redder purple accent? I was quite surprised when I realized what the plants were by our hotel. Then I saw them everywhere.

Thank you very much !! The photo in your avatar is from New Orleans, right ? I took a photo of my granddaughter there and just inside the store is a skeleton playing a piano.

Thank you !! I too have been in West Africa, The Gambia, which at one time was an English Colony. Met a very nice English family there and kept in touch for some time, but the older generation passed away.

Absolutely beautiful!

However, as the song goes, do not let the bird of paradise fly up your nose!

Thank you !! Wow never had a clue they could grow like that. I got a picture of the bloom five years ago and this is the next time it bloomed
