The Sigma 150-600mm HSM OS "C" lens is a direct upgrade from the older Sigma 150-500mm HSM OS lens and will be replacing it.
The Sigma 150-600mm HSM OS "S" lens is an entirely new lens and is directed specifically at pro shooters.
These two lenses will be sold side-by-side for many years.

yes I have the 150-600mm "C" takes a 95mm filter
the new 150-600mm has a "S" designation and takes a 105mm filter plus has more glass in it

Yep and I bet it will cost nearly double. The S is bigger and heavier, more elements and a pro level build. ;)

Wasn't the "c" lens just released at the same time as the "s" lens? Prior to yesterday did Sigma have a 150-600mm lens? Because it was just announced yesterday that Sigma was releasing the 150-600mm "C" and the 150-600mm "S" lenses.

I don't think you are reading wrong. Both lenses were announced on September 12th.

MT, if I'm right, the new 150-600S model will be similar to the 100-300 sport model they have as well. EX glass, etc. Is this correct?
