As today is 9-11 the UCSB College Republicans are putting up a memorial of 2977 flags on the beach at Santa Barbara, CA. As my brother and I have seen photos on the Internet of this memorial occasion but never seen it in person we decided to attend and take some photos. We met some wonderful young people who instilled more pride in two USMC veterans.

Really nice photos Dennis of a really nice memorial. I expect you already know that Britain greatly feels the pain of this wicked tragedy but it cannot be said enough times. Thanks for posting these.

Thank you, Brenda. I appreciate that. Hopefully, after that big fracas in back in 1775, England and America will always be friends and allies.

Me? I'm shocked there isn't a herd of retarded eco nazis protesting the impact all those flags have on the beach. Then again they would have protested the impact on the beaches of Normandy.

Thanks for this. It just reaffirms I'm on the right side.

I am proud to be an American and to hell with those that want to destroy this great country.

Does anyone have a problem with the fact that all of those flags have to be disposed of, and find that disrespectable? We get them as real estate advertising on memorial holidays, stuck in our yard, and I find it hard to just throw them away...... Just doesn't seem proper. I would hate to go to the junk yard and see all of those flags mixed in with stinky, disgusting trash... Or am I too old school?

Plant them in your garden. They will grow into freedom.

The flags used for the memorial are placed back in plastic storage boxes and reused each year is my understanding. Per exact law and protocol this is not correct but per this exact use as a memorial I, for one, am willing to overlook the discrepancy.

You would feel very proud, as we did, to see a great number of patriotic Americans including Conservative college students planting these flags just so to honor those murdered on 9-11. Many passers by remarked how thankful they were that the memorial was set up and so beautiful.

I can not give the exact quote right now but wasn't it Thomas Jefferson who said the tree of liberty must be nourished with the blood of patriots from time to time? Something like that?
