I like it. You nailed the lighting. Frankly, newborns are just plain hard to pose. Last newborn shoot I did took 3 hours. The mother was more difficult than the baby, but that's another story. As for the plate, I don't have a lot of issue with it. I've tried various things, but always go back to a posing pillow that I sewed up myself, and a thick furry blanket, but that's my style.

The photos that I used to love, now am tired of as they are so overdone, is the ones where the baby is unnaturally posed with their hands under their chin, and have to be compositied because someone has to hold the head in the first shot, and arms in the second. I do like them with the arms crossed and the baby laying it's head on their arms, but the other one is almost like spot color is to some others, when I see it. I just cringe. I can't imagine that it is the safest way to hold and treat a newborn. I just prefer natural poses.

That was a long way of saying, I like it. If you print at 8x10, then take the crop from the top. Keep up the good work, and I wish you much success.

bkyser, I saw this lady on creative live once. She poses newborns. She creates a whole environment to keep them soothed and sleeping and she picks out optimal times with the mother. The mother is very involved. Then this lady very patiently moves the baby into position a little at a time until she gets what she wants. She gets those babies all twisted up .. it's crazy .. but she does do it without photoshopping parts together.

To me .. it seems wrong to mess with a baby like that while he/she is sleeping. But that's just me. I'm not crazy about the whole babies in flower pots type thing either.
