I love the first because of the perspective. I don't like the second for the same reason.

Focus is a little soft on both of these.
You need to get a little more light the eye, just a little catchlight would have taken these to the next level.
I'd also lose the heavy vingette around #2, it really doesn't do anything for the image.
I like the angle of #1 but I'm also with Bob on #2, it just isn't working.
