Has anyone installed Picasa on Windows 8.1? I Have read up on it a little and it seems necessary to use some workarounds to operate it successfully.

I use it on both Windows 7 and 8.1 without problems. What workarounds?

I did not check out the procedures outlined that were indicated would be necessary to get it to fully operate on Windows 8.1

It works for me on 8.1 and I never had to do anything with it, it updated itself.

Following these responses I've downloaded Picasa, it upgraded itself and seems to be working perfectly. Thank you.

Been using it for years. It had no problem when I went from Windows 8 to the 8.1 upgrade. I call it the poor man's Lightroom. I spend most of my time in Lightroom now, but still use Picasa to upload images to my blog and to email web-friendly pictures to friends. Best free program around.

Could you share the link to your blog?

I have been a Picasa user for years and also use it as my first step in post processing (download) and was using it for initial vetting of photos. I have recently learned of FastStone Image Viewer and adding it to my process - clean, very fast, full screen editing and love the straighten tool. Have you tried it as well?

I had no problems at all using it on Windows 8.1. I got rid of Picasa pretty quickly though because it lacks too many features and the general functionality is very light weight compared to most of the image software out there. But hey, it free, and if your needs are limited perhaps its the program for you.

LOL. That's exactly why I kept it. I usually edit with Elements 12, but Picasa is light weight, loads quickly and is not a memory hog. I like it for quick cropping and retouching.

Sometimes like other programs or softwear it needs to be refreshed. It happens with printers , scanners, and softwear all the time.
Just a suggestion. Good luck if you try it.
