I use Photomatix Pro. HDR is not for every photo. I like to keep it subtle with beleivable colors. Nothing worse than overbaked HDR unless you're going for the abstract or very grungy look.
Your HDR photos are outstanding.
I use it on certain photo's that I want to come alive for a particular story to tell or reason.

I use it very seldom, but if I do, I do it in Photoshop.
Most of my images are HDR. Not all. But, most. I've always used Photomatix Pro (latest version) to merge and deghost.
My early images were "overcooked." But, I've calmed down somewhat these days.

I use my own process, when I do need to use HDR. Which is hardly ever. The only time I'd use it is when the range of light definitely surpasses my camera's capabilities. As stated, that rarely happens.
