Is it OK if I insert a new question here? I just read a comment from MTSHOOTER who says he has "several nice low shutter count bodies in inventory." My question is this. I recently purchased a D3100 and have been happily banging away with it. I've already taken a couple of thousand shots. Do I need to be concerned about "shutter count?" Am I wearing out my camera?

Actually I have had one customer trade in the D800, and two that traded in their D800E's for the D810. As well as one who upped his Canon 5d mk2. So I have several nice, low shutter count bodies in the used inventory thanks to the D810. Still waiting on more body availability as I already have 3 more customers wanting to trade.
There is a certain faction that just HAS to have the latest and greatest!

I will trade you a years worth of bear claws and coffee for the D800...you'll appreciate my offer when it gets cold

If you already own an D800e, please forget thinking that you will gain much by spending money on a D810..

Under practical usage, I've tested both using the same lens on both mounted on a tripod using the same settings and can see no difference whatsoever.. Only unless you have neither, would I suggest that you purchase the D810 for the sake of owning one for resale value in the future..

If you want a quieter shutter, ok, the 810 wins but, iso 64 does not mean that much in most all situations.. Just sayin' 8-)

Six months from now, who knows, perhaps Canon will come out with a model having a 50 megapixel Sony sensor ? Canon is overdue to change things back around again ? Keeping up, is an endless game
If you already own an D800e, please forget thinkin... (show quote)

Thank you for your input.

It has its specific advantages for me.

Just got my D810 yesterday.

I bought it for it's faster focusing, silent shutter, quiet continuous, larger buffer capability, higher rate of frames in CH, new Group Area AF Mode amongst other features important to my type of photography, which is primarily birds. I believe it may just be the best body for bird photography available at the present.

I saw a new D800 body on sale today in a Best Buy in Miami for $2299.99. The clerk said it was the last 800 in stock, and would not be replaced.
