I had a very pleasant time, thank you and I missed you too. I stayed longer than I usually do and still didn't want to come home.

Good, I am glad you had fun! :D

Sorry I don't have time to comment on the posts tonight...I'm getting a real late start & want to get mine posted before I have to go to bed. I haven't even had a chance to view but about half of the pictures posted tonight...but after I post a few pictures, I plan to finish viewing the others posted.
I think I looked at this challenge a little different from most of you today...I was thinking portal as an entry way not necessarily a door (guess I stretched it a little....typical of me)anyway here's what I got today.

Can I hold Augustus???

I don't think you could catch Augustus...It took me forever...following him around to get these shots. He doesn't live here...he lives in SC...I took pictures of him when I was there for our family reunion. You might know he'd be the one you want to hold  he's the first one that I have posted on here that is not ours  Figures...doesn't it. The one I plan to post for tomorrow lives with Augustus.... so you can't hold him either :(
Sorry!
I love the pictures you posted today...I especially like the one of your grandparents' home. It sounds like you had grandparents like mine...and I understand completely what you said about wanting to relive those experiences. I feel exactly the same way about my grandparents' home. My grandaddy was the grandaddy you wish every child could have...He LOVED all of us so. Oh, my and how we loved him...he was the best story teller EVER...and never got tired of telling them and we never got tired of hearing them. He would sit with one child on each knee, one on each chair arm, and a pack of us sitting all around him entranced in his tales. I don't remember him ever saying he didn't have time for us... mmmm...and I still miss him. I'm going to dig up a picture from my archives & let you see James Blackwell "Blackie" Gordon...my grandaddy. And that door is a portal to a very different time.

Frankie - these old pictures and memories are sooo precious. Most of my life we lived hundreds of miles from grandparents and saw them maybe once each year. As a Grammie now, I realize how much we missed, but we still have stories and fond memories which come up at every family gathering - which we don't have often enough as we are spread around the country.

I have so many wonderful memories of those years.

Wonderful pics Frankie.......My maternal grandmother was my favorite, and my paternal grandfather was my favorite, and he was just a step grandpa, but (until I met my husband) he was the man who loved me more than anything......When I graduated from high school I took a trip to England.....My grandpa was a very serious man, but on the day that I left he cried......

Thank you, Sherrie...he nearly always had that smile on his face...wonderful man & as my daddy aged he grew to look sooo much like him. I had wonderful grandparents (all of them) but I'm like you about my favorites.

Here's a couple more I found. This tower sets in a cemetary in Mass. as a memorial to a well known local couple.

Welcome to Day 53 :) Let me start off by saying that I have a new fondness and respect for each and every one of you.
I made this first photo with y'all in mind.. it's from my heart to yours. Each day that passes y'all make me so glad
I decided to challenge myself this way, and proud that y'all have decided to challenge yourselves right along with me.
Y'all are truly good people and I'm thrilled I got to know you.

So now for the challenge today. Yesterday we took a look into each other's lives ... today let's look at Doorways to
Another World. The idea of a "portal" or a "doorway" to another dimension is not a new one. Many researchers believe that there are places all over the world that serve as "doorways" from our world to another. These doorways are thought to provide access for entities to enter our world. They may be the spirits of people who have lived before, or they could be something else altogether. Some researchers even believe that they could be otherworldly beings from another dimension. LOL .. sorry couldn't help myself.
The Doorways I am talking about are the one's that we look through and see things and places and people that we wouldn't interact with on a normal day. Now that I have you thoroughly confused .... here are a few example of Doorways to Another World to get us started. :)
Welcome to Day 53 :) Let me start off by saying th... (show quote)
