When I download my D7100 camera images onto my computer, I am unable to view my video images on the computer. I use Transcend 16 GB cards. Am I doing something wrong so that video images are not being transferred?
I did not have this problem from my D90 camera.

Do you mean the file is there and you don't see the image or that you don't see the file?

RAW images?

If it is the RAW image and you can't see the image you may need to update something in your software. It might be called a "codex" or something. It is free but I don't know how to find it. I originally found it from a post here on UHH so you might start with a search there. Or hopefully someone will chime in with a link.

If shooting RAW you need to download the NEF codec from Nikon:

Using explorer (assuming you use windows), can you see the video files on your card?
Did you check both cards?

Thanks for your input. I am not using RAW imaging.
I will followup on CODEX.

If NOT using RAW look for a jpeg CODEC.

When you remove the card and view the files on it, using your computer, can you see the movie files?

If you are using a Mac, you will see them in iMovies.

Use the software that came with your camera and you won't have a problem. Chances are that the software you used with your D90 isn't compatible with a new D7100.

Nikon says not to use the disk you are using. I have heard people having problems not using recommended disk. Read your User's Manual.

I shot a few elk bulging and fighting with my D90 and the videos worked great. Last summer I shot video with my d7100 (for the first time with that camera). I hadn't studied the manual so I didn't realize I was not pushing (the newly added button.) Needless to say I didn't go home with the video's my family were hoping to see. Hope you can find what went wrong. Wish you the best!

I would have to go digging through manuals to see if the video format is different between the D90 and the D7100. I did notice with my D5300 i needed to use a different video player in windows and on my android tablet. For windows i think there is an update that can be applied to windows media player. I am not a big fan of that, so i use another product altogether VideoLAN VLC player. http://www.videolan.org/index.html
