May be a crop would do it.I don't know if you can't revert to original.

If you mean the little boxes around the thumbnails, go to Settings > Settings > Thumbnail. In the Thumbnail Browser box the second item is Thumbnail Border Shape, set it to None. I'll post an image if that wasn't clear enough to follow.
ahmeta, thanks for your help. But I"m afraid that on some older images that i downloaded(in thumbnail view) they like have a horizontal black bar 2mm thick around them either top and bottom or two sides. I want to know how to delete these black border effects from these images. Would i select all the effected images and then go to the border effects(under)effects and save the new selected ones. I need a step by step procedure on how to do this.
you will find an attachment showing this bar effect. Thanks

Those are the lines it puts when it doesn't load the raw file to know the correct aspect ratio. I don't know of a way to remove them. They are only part of the thumbnail, though, not the actual image.
Amehta, just a note that in lr5 thumbnails or grid view their is no problem with these borders as their are none. Do you know the reason ? Thanks for your help!!

These are not borders in the thumbnail, they are simply how FastStone pads the space with the raw files. I would not worry about it, it does not affect anything in your pictures.
