I think the "UHH Top-3 Dogmatic Discussion Topics (TM)" are
1. Canon vs Nikon
2. Raw vs JPEG
3. Prime vs Zoom
with
* Full frame vs APS-C
* DSLR vs MILC
close to the mix, or perhaps knocking Prime vs Zoom out of the Top-3. :-)
I use zooms 'cause I'm lazy. :)
I like the mules more than the horses...

A female mule is called a Hinney, they exist all over but are USUALLY sterile.

Then why are mules not extinct if the female of the species is usually sterile?

Because a mule is a hybrid, cross-breeding horses and donkeys.

maybe he is saying mules come from something that has fertile females.

It's actually too bad human being were not saddled with those limitations....
Purebread humans are absolutely the worst, and cause more wars than religion by itself. Racism is a trait of purebread humans.

I was worried we were too far off-topic, but it seems you're right there with us. :-)
I would lump everything into the xeno-ism issue: disliking anything that is not like
me.
Well there you have it!!! You now have your answer...

A "mule" technically is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. A "hinney" technically is the offspring of a male horse and a female donkey. They are regularly confused. A Hinney has a head that more closely resembles a horses head, just longer. Both mules and hinneys are usually sterile, but births have been recorded for both on rare occasions. When I was a kid we had a female hinney that was pastured with a male donkey and that donkey was always trying to mount her. One year she became pregnant and had the cutest little foal I had seen at that time, it even got its picture in the local paper because the birth was so rare.
I realize I'm getting off-topic here, but since going to an FX camera, I'm beginning to prefer primes over zooms due to the ability to crop more without losing so much image quality.
