Whoa, there my man - be absolutely sure you know exactly what it is you are about to commence ???
Seriously, I have a Nikon 105-2.8 Macro which mysteriously stopped auto-focusing just a couple of weeks ago. Did all of the obvious (including cleaning the contacts) - no luck. Sent the thing to Nikon and guess what? Replacement of "major internal components" was required. Got the email notification just today that lens is A-OK and on its way back to me as we speak. It was a B2 level repair (major component failure). Plus, it is cleaned, recalibrated, adjusted, tested, etc. etc.
Just sayin'

SilverfoxDojn - sounds like some of us might have offended you?? So Sorry - I thought this whole idea was a "Help" forum whereby each and everyone of us might possibly benefit from the vast experience of others?? Guess not -
Have a wonderful day, and remember - the big round part of the lens points to the front !

If you can get it apart it should go back together pretty easy. Just watch out for those spare parts that are sure to show up. Have fun.

The factory puts those spare parts in there just to make it seem more difficult. None of them are really needed. A good backyard engineer can always fix something using less parts than the manufacturer. I have a whole garage full of stuff that wasn't really needed after I fixed something.

That answers probably why my neighbor has a garage full of gadgets that have been rendered useless. Namely toasters. lenses, clocks, irons and many other widgets. . . . I asked his wife why he has so many parts in his garage? His wife replied,
"Hasn't Sam told you that manufactures have been complicating their equipment with superfluous parts? Just look how many he has collected and the surprising part is the product will work like new as soon as he has time to put it back together. He just simply unchurches the repair man. Isn't that ingenious?"

Had a friend who managed a camera store. A customer brought his camera in saying it was fogging his film. My friend opened the camera back and saw that the shutter curtain was gone. He asked the customer about it. Customer thought the piece of platic that was there to protect the pressure plate was a template to cut the curtain out, since it had dashed lines on it in that area.
(it was a cloth curtain)

I think my lens is dirty because the auto focus is too slow focusing I have scrubed the contacts and it still doesn't make a diffrence I'm going to take the lens apart to see whats up someone help in detail Thanks! Please be exact any Nikon techs welcome.

Whoa - are you out of your mind! :-)

Simple - get a box - fill it with packing material - put your lens in it - seal box - send to Nikon.

In all seriousness, I am not at all sure that taking a lens apart is a good idea.

"Take the lens apart......." WOW, why go thru all that trouble? Why not put the lens into a cloths washer, but please use the proper amount of camera lens soap. UGH.

When you put it back together, remember duct tape and wd-40.

Do what I did when I was a kid - take it apart, put the parts in a box, look em over a bit and then put the box in the garage and forget about it. Some months later, when you are cleaning the garage, open the box and see what's in it. Oh! my lens! I'll never get this thing back together! and toss it in the trash. Kidding!!!

Send it in or take it in to a qualified person. Check you camera settings first. Sometimes I fool around with my camera focus settings and I've seen some setting cause very slow focusing.

How glad I am to see such a stupid posting from this jerk. This form is quickly becoming a outlet for kids who want to see their name in print, and have no care for the art of photography. MANY THANK jerk, you just made me leave this sillly posting outlet..

Not a good idea. Taking your lens apart is easy; cleaning is relatively simple; putting the lens elements back together correctly and accurately is very, very challenging. And did I say, expensive?

Quite agree with Cpt. C.
