I am considering the Sony a7. Are there any members with this camera? How do you like it?

I know several people that have went with the A7r. One was a Canon user and the other Nikon. They both love it.

Recently traded in my RX10 and bought an a7 with the 35mm f/2.8 lens and the 55mm f/1.8 lens. I love the camera and the quality of the pictures is great. I plan on using the camera extensively when I travel and weight was a prime consideration. I recently updated the firmware to the latest version and am I am interested to see how that improves the speed of the autofocus.

I bought one several months ago and am real pleased. I'm far from being an advanced photographer, but I do have a lot of fun capturing my grandson's baseball team in action. I share pictures with other parents.

And then they see the great "native" lens selection. :-)

Of course nobody needs 200+ lenses. But maybe you really want 5 particular lenses. It would be nice if there were options to get those 5 lenses, or something close to what you were looking for.

Since receiving my Sony I have not used my Canon 7D. Nothing wrong with it just enjoy the Sony a7R. Thinking of selling the 7D along with all its lens to to help pay for a zoom lens for the Sony.

I would probably do the same thing you have done. :) Sony is increasing in popularity every new release.

I am very happy with mine. ONLY complaint I have is the lack of FE mount lens, but I plan to purchase the Sony FE 70-200 mm G lens which along with my FE 1.8 55mm prime lens will cover the majority of the things I would shoot. Planning to list my 7D for sale soon I hope. Not that it is a bad camera for it is not just want to cut down in gear and concentrate on a line that gives me good coverage.

I shoot a Nikon D4 full frame for my big camera and a Canon eos M3 for my travel camera with good glass...it's a leaf shutter 24 mp cropped sensor. I bought the A7 to upgrade to ff for both. Could not be more disappointed in a purchase. Wasted more than $1,000 on a body that does no better than the Canon EOS M3 already does or at most 5% better. The positive reviews are misleading as you need to see what lenses they are invested in and what alternatives they are coming from to see why they are so impressed. I finally found a direct comparison of A7 vs eos M3 review and it confirmed exactly what I just said above. Better but by very little and not worth the investment difference. I have a nikon adapter to try my nikon FF/fx glass on it but it will then have to be manual focus. If that doesn't improve things then it goes in the cabinet and will one day be sold off as a failed experiment. Read and review carefully before you get caught up in the hype and buy one. Is it better? Depends is the answer and better than what is the real question.
