You mean Scott Kelby?

EDIT: Ah, I see you have corrected the error. Kelbys books are generally well written and easy to understand, he does have many offerings.

Kelby has many more than five books published. If you mean the digest sized books for digital photographers, numbered 1-4 and then a fifth unnumbered one, you can pick any one up in any sequence to read. They are all very good, some have heavier leanings toward subjects like studio photography, sports photography, etc., but all are quite informative on many aspects of the subject. I especially like the back-of-the-book series of "recipes" for making certain types of shots.

You can edit the title (and your posts) for up to an hour after you hit send.
Look above your name in your first post for the "Edit Title" option.
The search function keys on the title, which is why it's important to get that right and detailed.

Somewhat off topic- I hate seeing posts titled simply "Help", "Advice needed" (more often incorrectly spelled: "Advise needed" ) or some other non-specific title that gives no clue to the content. rant over for now

<edit-looks like you fixed it!>

Quite frankly there is a plethora of books all over and wanting to read books only from one author, regardless of subject, is limiting your learning.

This is similar to looking at the universe through a pinhole and saying: "I saw the world".

For my money and many around here, Kelby 1-4, Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" and the Kindle version of Northrup's "How to Create Stunning Digital Photography" because it gets updated for free and includes private youtube video tutorials that are very good. I learned my basics from this Northrup book and am learning more here and through the other books as I progress. You can check out Tony Northrup on youtube and he has weekly podcasts. Try him out for free and if you like him, support him by buying his book.

I missed the part where he stated that he intends to only read Scott Kelby books. Here I thought he was just inquiring about which of a series of books he should start with.

If you are a new born photographer, I would suggest beginning at the beginning and go from there. Even if you have some experience it is better to start at page one.
You are sure to discover things you forgot or may not hav fully understood.
As stated elsewhere there is a universe of information out there and this is as good of a place to start as any short of attending school

I like Scott's books (except for his weak attempts at humor -- dang, he's worse than me!!) for their concise summaries of key concepts. Like Beowulf, I especially like that you can read virtually any topic "stand-alone" & in any sequence, and still get a lot from it. He gives you the usual doctrinaire advice -- for example, "always use a tripod" -- then later admits you need to break those textbook rules from time to time. I like his approach so much that I bought the entire Digital Photography Parts 1-4 for a talented, young photographer in Rio de Janeiro to use as the basis for a collaborative project in Brasil.

That is probably good advice... But do remember, kcj, no good deed shall go unpunished or at best ignored. Perhaps, some of the kibitzers should go right for the 5th, bourbon, scotch and lean back with a good book.

Yep, Kelby's books are good.
