I dropped the water into a cast iron pan filled with water, a flash light to the the left of the pan shining over the water but not onto the water. thanks guys

I did use the on board flash but diffused with home made diffuser.

Actually, I think you did a very good job considering the tools at hand. This kind of stuff can be a lot of fun. I was experimenting without money one time and came up with the idea of using a piece of paper towel taped over my onboard flash. It worked great!

Mine was a cut up milk jug glued together in pieces,
ended up looking like a miniature surgical mask.
