Camera that came into the US in 1948.

I have a camera that was my dad's so it means the world to me. I was very happy when he let me take it to Girl Scout camp. No instruction book with it, but hand written instructions for some of the settings. Also in the case was the paperwork when it came into the USA 1948. My dad worked loading ships that came to New Orleans on the Mississippi and often was given things by the ships captains. One time he brought me a pizza off of an Italian ship. It was nasty to me. Didn't taste anything like what we have in the US. Anyway I'd appreciate any information one of you may be able to give me. Well it looks like I don't know how to attach pictures. HELP!

I have done some internet searching, sometimes I find this challenging, you might find these interesting or maybe you have already been there. The first link is included in the second. But I pulled out the first cause it is more relevant and the rest of it is well just really interesting if you like old stuff. Hope this helps

At first I thought it was the original Zeiss Nettel, which came out only for a short time before being upgraded to the Super Nettel camera which had a long run (and I have owned a couple examples). But then I noticed the spelling, it appears to say "Nettal" which would seem to be a mis-spelling of the name.
I would seriously make an effort to contact Zeiss about this camera, it could be quite rare, or could even be an early knock-off. Either way I find it somewhat interesting. Good luck.

It's an entry level camera by Zeiss Ikon - it is a Nettar -

Here is an overview video of it -

cool I can see it now, thought it was nettal but was confused about the spelling as well. Oh well I had fun being wrong and noboby got hurt I hope, plus there is some cool info on those pages. Makes me want to pull out the old cameras I have stashed away somewhere rotting (what a crime)

 Understand being confused ---

I put my old cameras on different shelves of my book cases - kind of mix them in with other stuff - If I tried to tried use them all I wouldn't have time to do anything else and the honey do list would get longer and longer...

And I'm going to an auction next week that is supposed to have a lot of old cameras - ahhh - decisions, decisions ;)

Thank you all for your efforts. The links are very interesting. I'm going to keep on researching it. The camera is very special to me. With having to mark everything with my name when I went to camp Mama had bought some tags with my name on it. It came like a long ribbon. She had put some of it along the handle. It is still on there. Just took a second look at the pictures and you can see it around the handle.
