Does anyone know of a P&S for a person without the use of their right hand? I can't think of a camera with the shutter button on the left...

Wonder if it possible to flip the screen as if you are taking a selfie and turning the camera around backwards, pointing the camera lens over your left shoulder?
It seems to work with my point & shoot Canon Power Shot SX 40.
Smaller pocket size point and shoots may not have flip screens to see what is being photographed.
Maybe a camera with a shutter button? But unless you are using a tripod, you would still need two hands for this also.
Something for camera companies to think about maybe, for those that are physically challenged. I would have no idea how or who to contact at any of those companies to make the suggestion, but maybe someone here in UHH might have those contacts. Especially with all the wounded warriors returning home that are now challenged in so many ways we do not usually think of.
Just a thought.

How about setting the self timer to 10 seconds, click the shutter, and then aim the camera for the shot.

Have you tried one with a mirror lens?

Turn the camera upside down.

Brilliant! Wish I had thought of this. Thank you.
I don't have a camera with a touch screen, but some of those have a shutter release on the screen. I wonder if there is a preference setting on some of these where you can reverse the controls.
As has already been said, turning the camera upside down can work. and if you get really bored, I suppose one could rig up an inverting frame from an old flash bracket so it could even be tripod mounted upside down.

Of course, you'll then have to turn your monitor upside down or stand on your head to view them, but so what?

I hear inversion tables are good for your back anyway. Some heretical quack told me one time that you can rotate images in some software. but if you do it to JPEGs it of course utterly destroys the image quality. :XD:

You guys are too funny. Actually had her take a few pictures and she was amazed when she turned the camera rightside up the pictures flipped up too! Thanks for RWR's help.

Please don't think I'm mocking you, but assuming you are not using a tripod, can you not simply turn the camera upside down?

Many years ago (60's ?) there was a camera for the left handed. If my memory is correct it was called the ALPHA 9D, and was Swiss. I think that is the only leftie I have heard of. Of course a left handed camera is not quite the same thing as a camera for single handed use. I would be interested, being a southpaw myself.
