Vietnam Memorial - Before Washington, DC leaving for Loris, SC, we stopped by this majestic yet haunting memorial to the men and women who gave their lives during this turbulent time in our country. With over 58,200 names etched on the wall, visitors quietly honor these individuals.

(NOTE: You can see the reflection of the Washington Monument in this picture).

Very nice, 7 of the 12 guys in my "trade school" are on there. I've been there 4 times to reflect and photo. The last was when we moved from Philly to Florida, we spent the day there on the way down. Also loved the Korean War Memorial and the WW2.

Really like the clarity and composition of No.2.

Your post triggered some research. Apparently (never trust the Internet) there are 8 women's names on the wall. Someone has figured 59 women died of various causes during the war, but most were civilian status.

Dave... I'm a former educator and I try to present accurate information when posting something. Checked and like you mentioned, there are only a few women's names on the wall.

Glad you liked the photos....

Was fortunate enough to have been on the inaugural INDY HONOR FLIGHT TO DC FOR WWII VETS. Very impressive.

"Only" eight women's names on the wall; I'm surprised, I would have thought there would be more, and mostly nurses as they served in some very dicey areas just behind the front lines.

Every time I see the memorial it brings back memories of a bad time within our country. I thank all those who have served. Mahalo for sharing
