I shot my first wedding yesterday. My hat goes of to all you wedding Photographers out there. Hell I didn't have time to eat until I got home last night. I think I will stick to landscape and wildlife.

From somebody who hasn't shot a wedding in over 20 years, that sounds like an excellent idea to me.

Ya I would imagine that shooting landscapes and wildlife is less stressful than shooting weddings.

I've been drafted to do my nephew's wedding in October. In a previous life, I was in the car business and ordered a Ford Escort for my sister-in-law that made the Edsel look good by the time all was said and done. No good deed goes unpunished. I am girding my loins... At least landscapes and animals cooperate with you.

Ahhh, but was your back SCREAMING, your arms like lead balloons and your feet hurting. Also did you go to church the next day to get rid of the desire to kill 2-3 people at the wedding?

Yes, wedding photography is for the masochistic. But, the end justifies the means. Congrads!!!

As a police crime scene photographer, friends thought I could shoot a wedding with the pros. My protests fell on deaf ears and against my better judgement I did it...twice. UGH!!
Unless the Bride and Groom want to lie down and have chalk drawn around them, I DO NOT DO WEDDINGS, or reunions, or any such event. If you die, call me and I will give you my best. Otherwise, call a pro!

Yes, you do have to be ready for a bit of craziness, but when the results come out well, it's a nice feeling. :-)

The landscape will probably last longer than the marriage, too. (Based on current marriage statistics)

I don't know, have you seen the rate of development in some places? I think it's a real contest for which will last longer! :-)
The difference is that, when the landscape has been changed, we want the old pictures, but when the marriage ends in divorce, they don't want the wedding pictures.

The only good thing a wedding photographer can expect, is when the check clears.

It's always fun to at least give it a try and then you really appreciate those that do such a beautiful job..one wedding down and no more to go..been there done that..I'll stick to my fast pace barrel racers. At least most of the mistakes that are made are theirs..and no bridezilla to worry about.
