I've been using Lightroom for a year and this has never happened to me. I exported photos, but they were exported as dng - not JPEG. What went wrong?

Somehow you must have changed the setting in the export dialog box. You can import them all again; be sure to uncheck skip duplicates, open the export dialog box and make sure you choose JPEG. Then, just click on each and pick export with previous. If you haven't set it up to add a sequence number to each picture you export, another dialog box will appear asking you to overwrite, or use a unique name.
Won't be on my computer for a few days so if you have a problem and no one else responds just be patient.

You don't have to re-import them. Just go back to those same photos in LR, select them, bring up your usual export dialogue, and in that dialogue box the fourth section is for File Settings. Change the drop down choice for Image Format to JPEG. Make whatever other changes you need to make for color space, size, sharpening, etc. and you're ready to export as jpegs.

The simplest thing to do is just reset your export window to JPEG and re export the same images from LightRoom. Why bother to re-import them and and then and have duplicates in LightRoom?

Things do get accidentally changed.

And, when you export your photos again as JPEGs you can put them in the same folder as the original export and either overwrite or retain the DNGs.
