G/day all, just a few photos I have taken, as my wife and I Travel around the eastern parts of Australia , this we do to escape the southern winter in Victoria, while we are not exactly in hot conditions, 20c is far better than 8-12c.
this very friendly Kookaburra a visit on day, and nearly came into our Caravan, the first photo is taken from inside the van, and even though I see many of these birds during the year, I never get fed up with there presence ,

Thanks for the reply phlash, no they are not that small, but not as big by a long way from an eagles size, something like a crow, but as you can see a little stocky ,and with quite a large beak, this Kookaburra is found mostly in the mid to southern states, while the Blue winged Kookaburra.is found further north, and is longer but not as stocky, and unlike this one ,does not have the laugh of this one,

thanks Fergus for the reply, I think the shot you like is pretty good, but as always when photographing wild life, we just have to be real lucky, what with our situation as regards to the subject, and above all where the light is, and that we can not always control, not like a model in a studio where you can position your light to suit, I have not ever seen an animal asking where would you like me, Cheers Colin.
They're all good, but I just love the last one!

I just love these...great job
The last one is dynamite. They bear a resemblance to one of my favorites, the king fisher. Does it tend to perch above water holes looking for fish to eat?
Pictures are very good and this is a very pretty bird.
Great pictures. That last one made me laugh.
