wow!good shots but the last one is really something we all hope to have happen some day!
This is the second time this happened to me. While back I was shooting with the 180. Methodically tracking a butterfly and from the left side of the frame an Anole snatched it. I mashed the shutter and ended up with an OoF shot. This time I paused very briefly pushed forward a smidgen and fired. Worked out ok..

Nice skipper and butterflies. Love the last capture. Good work as always..
Thanks Martin, I thought about you yesterday. I was hiking down a trail and low-n-behold a deer fly landed on my LCD screen and preened for a minute. Brilliant green and maroon stripped eyes. Just fantastic to look at, no shot though, next time....

The usual nice work-- but loved the finale'!
"F/8 and be there!"
Or the Macro's credo: "F/16 & practice, practice, practice".
Thanks Allen, It was one of those shots I did an LCD zoom on in the field to see if it was a decent capture. F8 and be there, I like it and very true when it comes to photography. Ain't going to get the shot sitting on the couch looking at picture books.

I've had instances where another insect entered a frame intent on eating my subject... Every time though, I mashed the shutter button hoping for the best, as you said, I got squat. Great series of images you posted here !!!

Thanks Scott, I have many, many images I have muffed. Just put it in the data banks and hopefully remember the next time I encounter a similar shot. When I miss a really well framed shot I always review and analyze it in Ligthroom to get a better understanding of how I miscued and how I might correct the error in the future.
