Hey Guys I need help ASAP. I was trying to transfer images of a barrel race I took with a Lexar card reader using Nikon Transfer and I guess I fat fingered something, the transfer stopped and something deleted all the images. The images are on a Lexar Professional 300x 8gb CF card. The card had both Neff and JPEG normal files. I didn't have the option to delete card when finished picked, I have no clue why it did this. I have 75 women wait to see their photos so if anyone can help me recover these images I will forever be in your debt.

Good news: Marking files as deleted just means the card thinks that memory space can be re-used.
Not-so-Bad news: It can take a little bit of work to recover the files. But most folks can master the process.
The process depends upon whether you use a Mac or a Windows PC to process your photos using the card reader.
Here is a good overview:

I'm a computer guy. If it's a PC and the other help here doesn't work, try Card Recovery. You can download a free trial that will recover a couple of pictures to prove it works before you have to pay about $25 for the software. Getting those ladies off of your back is probably worth much more than that! Good luck... We recover data all the time in my shop from every kind of media, feel free to PM me if you need more help.
Try Recuva by Piriform software. It is a free program and it works well.

If you are using a PC use Windows Explorer to look at the card. There is a possibility that the problem is Transfer's settings.
Put the card in the reader; open Explorer and it will list all of the "folders" your computer sees on the left side. One will be your camera, i.e.: D7000. Highlight and click on that and it will list all of the files (images) on the card. The extension will either be JPG or NEF(Nikon's raw).
A double click will open the image
Try going to the Lexar website and see if they can help you. I recently purchased 3 new Lexar cards and they came with a code to download and install "Image Rescue 5" so that if something happens this downloadable software gives you a chance at recovering your images.
If you don't have any luck getting this recovery program free from Lexar, PM me and I'll give you one of the codes from one of the cards I purchased. You can follow the directions from the web site and get the program to try and recover your images. Since I have 3 new cards, I don't think I'll ever need 3 codes.

Thanks everyone for you help and advise. I think I have the problem solved.
When I have had problems with my usb card reader or the laptop built in reader I have check the card by seeing if My local Walgreens photo dept. can read the card and I just make a back-up CD
The problem wasn't with the card or the reader. I shoot Nikon and use Nikon Transfer to bring the images into the computer. The images downloaded and started to transfer just like always, I thought I clicked on the minimize square but apparently I fat fingered something else because the program closed and deleted all the images from the card???
Thanks to the great guys here on the hog I found the right recovery program and recovered all the images. A special thanks to Jeep Daddy that helped me preform that task.

Check your computer for "cache" I once lost all pictures on one card after I reformatted the card. By accident, I ran across a cache and found thumbnails of most of my pictures. I went to "On one " and purchased their resize program and was able to get usable copies of my pictures.
The images never made it to the computer. The problem is solved. Thanks.
