After spending the afternoon watching the World Cup Soccer final game with my son and a couple of his soccer coach friends, one of them showed me some pics he shot of a black bear. He said they've been seeing two younger bears and a mother around his property. His garbage has been ripped apart several times. He lives in a dense forested area of NE PA's Pocono Mts. which is home to a substantial black bear population. Its a place where I hunted in my earlier years but was never successful. Back then the population was only about one-tenth of what it is now. Agressive management of the species accounts for the increase. 700-lb black bears have been harvested in NE PA by hunters during the past two hunting season.
These are some pictures of one of the younger bears on his neighbor's porch. I guess I'll have to go visit him and see what I can shoot (w/camera, that is).
Equipment includes a Canon 7D w/100-400 L lens. Exif intact. Enjoy.

Thank you, John. I always carry "bear spray" whenever I'm out and about. Depending how deep I go into the swamps, I also include a .44 Mag. Thanks for looking.
Love the photos. Loved the game! Go Germany.
