Here I am at about 11/30 at night trying to download photos from my camera to my laptop. I make all the proper connections, turn the camera on and nothing happens. No download. I think to myself, check the connections, they are correct. Turn the camera off and then on. Nothing. I examine the camera, and finally come to know that even though the camera is on, it's not really on. Then in a sudden realization of my own stupidity I discover the problem. The battery is in the charger, NOT in the camera. I say to myself, I think the camera will work much better if the battery is IN the camera. What do you think? Am I the only one who has ever done this?
I think you need to contact MT Shooter. He will have the answer for you....

Yeah, I posted a joke recently about an old girl who complained at not getting her sunday paper. Told it was Saturday!
She was heard to mumble, 'That would explain why there was no one at church'.
Dunno your age but we all have seniors moments from time to time. Or Blonde moments.
In the ISO model of networks, the most critical is layer 1, the physical layer. Similar to all the times I had to diagnose computer connectivity only to realize that the network cable was unplugged or WiFi was off.

LOL! Nope... but then I never connect the camera to the computer, I take the card out and insert it into the computer - faster that way. And, it doesn't eat up battery power. I have, however, forgot to put the cards back in the camera...good thing I carry spares, LOL!

That's probably the funniest response to any post I've seen yet!

Not enough ADL points! Needs an ILC with infrequent assistance.

LOL'ed IRL!
Well, at least this thread has not (yet) devolved into a mfr vs mfr thread (camera OR pc) or operating systems vs operating systems.

Well said. The only thing worse about not making sure the battery is in the camera is running out of space on your memory card.
Thanks for giving us a chuckle. I haven't done that particular thing because I use a card reader, but I've tried taking a photo numerous times when the camera wasn't on, lens cap was on, etc, which is pretty embarrassing if you're taking a group shot of waiting people. I've found that almost all of the time when things don't work it's lack of power. A friend of mine called in a panic because her computer would not turn on. "Is it plugged in?" I say. "Of course it's pugged in," she says. I recall that she has her computer plugged in to a power strip. I also remember she has a cat which walks around on everything. "Is the power strip turned on," I say. "Of course," she says. "Look at the power strip," I insist. Silence. "Oh, how did that happen?" she says turning on the power strip.
Haven't done that, but more than once in the old film days I loaded a cassette that wasn't firmly attached and wondered why I was getting so many photographs from just one roll of film! Of course, I wasn't getting any. Panic!

I second that. The problem is it wont work. As I am in Ct. this weekend. I guess I will have to investigate assisted living places here. At one time I would have found this insulting, but at my stage in life I will take as much help as I can get.

The only thing worse than that is accidently rolling the tab back into the cassette.. I have done that also and found out that you can never get the end of the cassette back on.
